Born in Vancouver, Frank Townsley graduated with honors from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, in 1979, where he studied watercolor under Paul Souza. Returning to Vancouver, Townsley established a freelance practice in watercolour, photography, and teaching. Admitted to the Federation of Canadian Artists in 1980, he won the Shell Canada Award at his first exhibition. Townsley's work seeks to capture the beauty and tranquility of nature's landscapes in a serene and realistic manner. With a deep fascination for nature since childhood, he depicts a wide variety of subjects, including landscapes, wildlife, and flora, with a growing interest in birdlife due to advancements in digital photography. His passion for the outdoors and travel fuels his love for photography, and for the past 20 years, he has dedicated himself to teaching others. Townsley is currently based in Coquitlam. |
